Producing Fairy Folio

As a producer I have made a point of understanding all aspects of the animation/production process; I have at one time or another filled all functions in the process from initial Concept Development, Pitching, Budget Creation and Project Planning. Additionally I've been hands-on with all levels of technical execution from Storyboards, Animation and Post Production through to Final Delivery.

In 2003 I completed production on a one-hour animated documentary for national broadcast on CTV in Canada.

The project - entitled Fairy Folio - was an animated documentary about the fairies of world folklore. and involved a highly experimental animation process involving the use of hand-painted imagery and Flash animation. It was the first animated documentary produced in Canada.

As the principle driver of the project I developed the original concept and delivered the pitch to CTV. Additionally I wrote the Story Outline and Treatment for the show.

On the administrative side I prepared the initial Production Budget and Production Schedule. Additionally I wrote an Opperations Manual that clearly delineated job functions and responsabilities for the production team.

During production I Directed the picture and preformed (as required) a great deal of hands-on functions such as Character Design, Animation, Post-Production (compositing) and Storyboard Thumbnails.
